Interam™ Endothermic Mat: The New Alternative Fuel Line Sleeve from Bellis

This wrap system provides a solution for the new UL1489 standard for fuel pipe protection in Australia, which mandates the installation of fuel lines feeding emergency generators and fire pump drivers for at least two hours, ensuring that fuel pipe systems will remain incombustible in the unlikely case of fire.

3M designed the Interam™ Endothermic Mat to help engineers and specifiers to readily meet the new UL standards. It has been proven and tested under listed systems UL HNKJ.FP-1 and HNKJ.FP-2. Through endothermic technology, the alternative fuel line sleeve releases chemically bound water that moderates high-temperature surrounding materials and slows down heat conduction, which in response prevents possible fire breakout, or worse, combustion.

The Interam™ Endothermic Mat is suggested for wall opening membranes, structural steel, and critical electrical components that may be subject to intense heat or flame. The alternative fuel line sleeve can protect structural steel applications for up to 4 hours in accordance with ASTM E 119; 3 hours for electrical circuit application under ASTM E 1725; and prevents large hydrocarbon pool fires conforming with ASTM E 1529. Apply the endothermic mat to the back and sides of metallic utility boxes to easily achieve an equal F-rating and T-Rating in membrane penetrations of rated wall assemblies.

The alternative fuel line sleeve promotes ease of installation with little to no upkeep. For storage, Bellis Australia delivers the Interam™ Endothermic Mat in a convenient roll. Through its light yet highly durable attributes, the fuel line sleeve is easy to cut and install even on complex shapes and around corners. The system's built-in safety water inhibits the need for a water source so there is no need to mask or drape areas to prevent overspray and mess.
