Grid Glass in The Ghan by Axolotl Not all glass is made the same. A perfect example of this is Grid Glass in The Ghan by Axolotl. Grid Glass starts off by being kiln-fired, and it creates a subtle textured surface. It is then carefully inlaid with metal, not applied, as that would mean the metal is merely sitting on top of the surface. Grid Glass is, instead, integrated with metal to create a unified form. The result is a glass that can do more than just serve as a divider in a luxury train. Grid Glass captures light and then diffuses it. It creates a softer space for a mode of transportation that is seen as industrial. The Ghan is a long-distance train that travels from Adelaide to Darwin, and is designed by Woods Bagot.
