EJ Has it Covered

Old Havestock brass edge covers had been in place on the ballast and surge tanks at South Bank since 1991. They have served the massive swimming pool and beach area well considering their years of exposure to high pedestrian traffic and intense use of corrosive chemicals.

EJ was commissioned to replace them and a recommendation to install a light-weight aluminium option was prescribed. The new covers had to be custom made in the East Jordan US plant and because of the urgent need for replacement, were flown out in Jumbo freight direct to Brisbane.

The covers feature light and easy to operate hinged lids and have been painted with a special non-slip, safe grip, industrial strength paint which has also been matched to the surrounding tile colour.

The tank covers have also been fitted with safety grate protection to prevent operators falling into the pits. This extra safe inclusion demonstrates clearly how South Bank Corporation is serious about its duty of care to its workers.

The new covers also have robust fluid leak prevention with seals that suppress odours and prevent water from intruding.

The new covers are a vast improvement on the superseded technology and should last decades under normal operating conditions.
