Spotlight: Steel Safety Bollards at Gold Coast Light Rail

Stoddart is the elite team behind a variety of external elements for the Gold Coast Light Rail. The Manufacturing, Architectural, Infrastructure and Town & Park divisions of Stoddart were awarded the contract by leading construction company, McConnell Dowell.

Among the external elements supplied by Stoddart was Town & Park range of City Style steel safety bollards. The Town & Park B10 bollard can be fabricated from either galvanised mild steel or stainless steel. The former build promotes structural integrity with a resilient zinc coating that serves as an added layer of protection from moisture, saline solvents, and other agents of corrosion. On the other hand, the latter is built for high wear resistance and sleek visual appeal that complements a wide range of design styles. Clients can choose from high-quality 304 or marine-grade 316 stainless steel for the bollard build. All bollards include fasteners manufactured from 314 stainless steel.

The Town & Park B10 bollard is cylindrical with an angled top, ideal for areas where access is restricted. The Australian-made unit is also resistant to vandalism to preserve its visual appeal in the long run. Stoddart can supply the bollard in heights of 900mm, 1000mm or 1200mm. The base plate can be specified to round, square or sub surface options. Eyebolts are also available upon request.

Other external elements supplied by Stoddart for the Gold Coast Light Rail include city seats, bins, bike racks and bespoke furniture elements. At the time of production, the Gold Coast Light Rail project was the biggest single-delivery project undertaken by Stoddart's Town & Park division, delivering more than 100 seats in 2-3 months.
