Door Sealing Systems for Bushfire Prone Areas from Kilargo

With the upcoming change of season, Australia has begun to prepare itself for another Bushfire Season around the country. In 2003, Canberra experienced significant bushfires causing loss of life and major damage to property across the region. Since that time, the Australian Standard relating to building in bushfire prone areas had been revised and a new Australian Standard (AS3959) was drafted.

In 2009 after another series of devastating bushfires in Victoria, this Standard was extensively reviewed and clearer guidelines on the construction requirements for bushfire prone areas were developed.

A great deal of scientific modelling has gone into the new building Standard AS3959-2009 (Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas). We now have a system to determine the type of building construction required in bushfire prone areas in order to improve their resistance to bushfire attack from burning embers, radiant heat or flames generated by a bushfire.

Kilargo has produced a series of Door Sealing Systems to assist during the construction of buildings in these Bushfire Prone areas - with a focus on defending against potential risk of fire.

Take a look at our mini bushfire brochure to find out how Kilargo can help you defend against potential bushfire damage. Need more information? Visit www.kilargo.com.au.
