Fire Water Barrier Expansion Joints in Walls from Unison Joints

Fire Rated Expansion Wall Joint

The highly compressive strength of concrete makes it one of the most common materials used in the building and construction sector. Concrete is known for being inflexible, it doesn't stretch or bend without failing its physical properties. As temperature rises and decreases or during seismic movement, unsightly cracks are likely to appear on the substrate surface when proper preventative measures are not committed.

Expansion joints in walls are designed specifically to allow shifting of structural elements and to accommodate the expansion and contraction of concrete.

Expansion joints in walls safely permit thermal contraction and expansion of not just concrete, but also of several construction materials, without inducing stress on the materials. The expansion joints are often incorporated during construction and commonly found in foundations, walls, pipelines, roof and paving slabs. Expansion joints are also used to fortify bridges, railway tracks, stadiums, healthcare facilities, warehouses, shopping centres, office buildings, and other public infrastructures or commercial complexes.

Product Feature: Fire Rating Pyrotx B Fire Blankets for Expansion Joints
Unison Joints created Pyrotx B (Py B), a high-movement fire blanket system. Py B is a seismic joint fire seal that can be used for wall and floor applications. Built to withstand multi-directional movements, Py B exhibits high capacity movement. It has been tested and certified for use in gaps of 250 mm.

Py B is compatible with Unison architectural cover plates systems and comes with a water sealing option for optimum joint performance.
