Maintenance Shaft Covers with Precast Concrete Surrounds by EJ

Maintenance Shaft Covers with Precast Concrete Surrounds by EJ

Sewer maintenance shafts are used for some Australian sewer connections, generally in civil subdivisions. Maintenance shafts have a smaller opening of just 375mm with the aim of restricting personnel access and allowing the use of only cameras or other tools for inspection or maintenance work. Small maintenance shafts are commonly installed in between the traditional precast sewer manhole chambers which allow full access for field personnel.

To cater to this segment of the sewer market, EJ has cast ductile iron maintenance shaft covers since their emergence in the mid-1990's. These covers were once cast under the brand name 'HaveStock' and at our Bundaberg foundry that operated in Queensland. Today, EJ manufactures maintenance shaft covers in Class B and Class D to comply with AS3996-2019; complete with the original 'top hat' high frames or the convenient low frames.

Over recent years, there has been an increasing demand for these covers to be encased in precast surrounds to assist/reduce the on-site installation times. EJ now stocks low frame products already finished with precast collars; all set and ready to go.

In the Asia Pacific region, EJ has been supplying sewer projects with manhole covers for the past 35 years. And in the USA, we've been serving the market for 137 years; and over five family generations. You could say we've been keeping a lid on it for a long time!
