During the winter months, the use of Solar hot water panels can be used for your solar hydronic floor heating system. Using solar technology to channel solar hot panels that can create hot water as a heating source can be achieved in two options:

Flats Panels or Evacuated Tubes. This method uses solar hot water panels as a pre-heater for a hydronic floor heating system wherein pre-heated hot water is stored in a heat exchange tank. The heat is then distributed between the domestic hot water and the floor heating.

Photovoltaic (PV) Panels. PV or photovoltaic panels are integrated with electric Heat Pump Systems which already have a COP of 3- resulting in more energy efficiency. (please note that Comfort Heat does not install or supply PV panels)

Because it is unregulated, the heat output of solar panels would require a suitable-sized storage tank as it is also dependent on solar radiation and the number of panels to be installed. More importantly, using solar hydronic heating requires a booster. This is to ensure that your floor heating remains warm even on days with low solar radiation- such as in winter months.

Floor covering where hydronic heating can be installed includes in-slab, in-screed, under-timber, and radiators. For more information about Solar Hydronic Floor Heating Systems, visit Comfort Heat at www.comfortheat.com.au today.
