Installing Comfortable Carpet Underlay Insulation from Bellis Australia

Comfortable carpet underlay insulation is emerging as a valuable asset of the modern Australian home. The innovative solution contributes to the acoustic performance of an extensive insulation system.
Acoustic insulation continues to see a rise in demand within the building and construction industry, especially for use in multi-storey buildings where noise is rampant due to foot traffic and other activities on lightweight flooring systems. Bellis Australia addresses the demand with only the top-billed products to ensure world-class performance.
Comfortable Carpet Underlay Insulation from Bellis
In service for over 46 years, Bellis has more than qualified experience in the provision of engineering solutions and services for various industries. Insulation is one of their many specialties, offering both thermal and acoustic insulation products for residential and commercial properties.
Through international group research and buying strength, the product development team at Bellis has established partnerships with some of the leading industry experts in the world. For their acoustic insulation catalogue, Bellis enlisted Pyrotek high-performance Silentstep® insulation.
Pyrotek has specialised in the design, production and distribution of insulation materials for over 60 years. The US-based company designed Silentstep® to be ideal comfortable carpet underlay insulation laminate for high-density living.

Silentstep® is a multilayer system, starting off with the reinforcing layer that provides strength and slip resistance. A noise barrier is then applied to significantly minimise noise due to the limp and heavy profile of the material. Silentstep® also has a foam layer, keeping the noise barrier isolated from the floor structure, for independent performance. Finally, a slip layer is added to streamline the fitting process, as well as strengthen the preceding foam layer.
In action, Silentstep® inhibits the transfer of airborne noise, including the human voice, audio equipment, radio and television. Additionally, the laminate reduces impact noise caused by footfalls, dropped objects, shuffled furniture and slammed doors.
How to Install Silentstep®
Silentstep® can be installed following these general guidelines:
- The applicator must use a standard domestic carpet gripper unless directed otherwise.
- Silentstep® must be laid on its foam side to the floor surface.
- After butting the edges of Silentstep® together, the applicator will joint each sheet with strong underlay tape.
- Silentstep® does not have enough internal weight to remain in position during carpet fitting. The applicator must avoid bonding and stapling that can reduce the acoustic performance of the material.
- The applicator must cut in the Silentstep® material as per standard underlay installation.
- The carpet must be firmly attached to the gripper pins at the front.
- The carpet must be bolstered between the far side of the gripper edge, and the skirting board.
