The code requires that all buildings must be designed & constructed "to reduce the risk of ignition from a bushfire while the fire front passes". With traditional design and construction it is estimated that it could cost 30% more to build in a bushfire risk location. This may cause significant financial concern for those people who lost their homes and are now looking to rebuild their lives and homes.
