Decorative Concrete Blasting from Complete Acid Protection![]() Kangaroo Island Information Centre - Whip Blast Grit blasting is a process where abrasive particles are pneumatically accelerated and forcefully directed against a surface. These high speed abrasive particles remove contaminants from the material's surface to condition the surface for subsequent finishing. The council consulted the aboriginal community about the design of the pattern from which the stencils were cut to ensure the design was in harmony with the environment and the belief systems of the aboriginal people. Complete Acid Protection was able to meet the requirements of the design brief with a decorative concrete blasting solution. Leafs was blowing on the concrete and this was posing safety issues due to the surfaces being slippery. This problem resulted in plenty of testing to make sure the end finish met the non slip grading required by the council. Firstly a whip blast was conducted over the selected concrete areas where the stencils were going to be placed. Then the desired non slip surface was achieved by blasting to a depth of around 5mm. Another fine example of Complete Acid Protection achieving a balance between artistic design and practicality for a public flooring system.
