DIY Sub-Floor Ventilation to Combat Mould Growth by Envirofan

Fan-Forced Sub-Floor Ventilation by Envirofan

Stop dampness in its tracks! Reverse the cycle of mould and heat build up as you protect your health and your home.

How does fan-forced sub-floor ventilation shield you and your family's health?

If humidity is entrapped in the sub-floor this can penetrate through the floor into your home. Relative humidity levels above sixty per cent inside the habitable area will allow for mould growth. Once this cycle starts, you put yourself and your family at risk of allergic reactions, infections or toxic responses. Symptoms include eye irritation, respiratory problems (such as wheezing, coughing or difficulty breathing), skin irritation, headaches, fatigue, aching joints, vomiting, nose or throat irritation and nasal or sinus congestion. If your condition is pre-existing, such as bronchitis and asthma, this will only make the condition worse.

A dry sub-floor is also a deterrent for termites. This fact is outlined in the 'Termite Inspection Report' in accordance with AS3660 which is used in the pest control industry.

A damp sub-floor can affect the building by changing the cell structure in timber. By the timber expanding this will make floors bounce, lead to bending, warping and ultimately dry rot whereby the floor and its supporting structure fails. Solving a termite infestation or replacing supporting materials in your home can be a very inconvenient and costly exercise.
