Plaster Rose Ceilings + Internal Decorative Mouldings

CHAD was recently enlisted to provide metal battens, plasterboard, decorative cornices and strapwork, ceiling panels and roses, and decorative arches to the Malvern East residence. The property was renovated and extended, requiring a meticulous job to complement the existing features. Through close collaboration with the client, CHAD delivered outstanding results that were highly commended by the client.

The brief of the project required CHAD to match the decorative cornices in the studio room with the existing decorative cornices in the living room. In addition, the patterns of the decorative ceiling profiles in bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 had to be uniform to those in the study.
In tackling the job, CHAD manufactured copies of existing cornices, straps and ceiling panels. The existing internal decorative mouldings were removed and replaced as needed for matching and uniformity.

The restoration of existing plaster rose ceilings was completed in the existing rooms. CHAD drafted several arch profiles and showed the templates to the owners for their selection and approval. The templates included a variety of cornices provided for the selection of corbel cornice caps.

CHAD installed sound insulation, including a wavebar barrier in the studio room, and high-density insulation batts to external and internal walls of the new extension upstairs. The cornices upstairs were selected to complement the cornice selection downstairs. The cornice profiles for the skylight were also provided to enhance the supporting beams for heavy light pendants.

CHAD conducted extensive research into period home plaster decoration to provide a comprehensive and detailed brief. Some choices of the cornices, straps and roses were no longer available. Thus, copies were made on site, making sure to match existing profiles. The work was staged to allow for the decorative elements to be delivered on time.
