The first ride-on goods hoist - new from Southwell Lifts & Hoists

The first ride-on Goods Hoist for Self Storage has been delivered to Storage King, Kingston in Queensland. Southwell have been building and installing this type of unit for many years for general industry.

Goods Operator Hoists have been built to AS1418 Part 8 and have been design registered for the Operator to travel with the Goods between levels. We are currently installing these units in Queensland and Victoria and soon within NSW subject to regulatory changes.

This has the obvious benefit of allowing the storer to travel with their Goods rather than climb the stairs, which can be an issue on a 3 level site such as this or a 4 level site.

"This design will be a great marketing advantage for Self Storage facilities where their customers won't have to walk up 2 or 3 flights of stairs" says Mark Doldissen Sales Manager for Southwell. "They are easy to operate with complete safety incorporated within the design."

The Operator rides within a walled platform with a mesh roof with roller shutters fitted to one or two side's dependant upon where the doors are situated either on the same sides or opposite sides.

Controls are fitted on the platform complete with an emergency exit feature which allows the operator to lower themselves and the doors to open under battery back-up in the event of a power failure. Clients operating this Hoist need to be trained in advance.

Southwell's Free standing Goods Hoists can be installed externally or internally to your building, they are self-supporting and therefore don't need a lift shaft.

The In-Shaft Goods Hoist is perfect for existing sites with poor access for Hoist installation as it can be installed in pieces.
