Green Roof Systems with Drainage Cells from Elmich Australia

An Elmich Green Roof system at Universal Studios' theme park in Singapore provides a barrier against tropical temperatures, which helps to cool building interiors and the surrounding areas.

The total green roof area was 35,000 m2. VersiCell drainage cells were used to in-fill the space between the metal ridges to create a level surface on metal roofs sections. A separation sheet, geotextile and VersiDrain 25P drainage and water retention trays were installed. EnviroMix, a primarily inorganic soil-less lightweight planting media was then laid down. Drought tolerant plant species that require little or no irrigation and maintenance were selected. Evalon, an EVA/PVC root resistant sheet waterproofing membrane was fully adhered to all concrete roof sections.
