Digital liquid lamination with Viponds Paints

The digital print market continues to evolve with new machinery, inks and processes. While improvements in quality have taken place, the prints are still a long way from being durable. Where water resistance, scratch and mar resistance, UV protection or graffiti protection are required then lamination provides the best solution. Lamination not only protects the inks, but protects the substrate as well. It is also a simple method to change the gloss level of the print.

Liquid lamination is the most cost effective way to protect prints. There is little or no capital expenditure required. It can be applied by spray or paint pad, while for volume work a liquid laminating machine is the preferred method.

The following Viponds products are available;
UV Digi Clear is a water based clear that can be applied over all non water sensitive prints. It will impart mar and scratch resistance, water resistance and some chemical resistance. It is non-yellowing and contains UV absorbers to improve the outdoor durability of the print. The flexibility of UV Digi Clear makes it the ideal laminate for vinyl banners. UV Digi Clear has been in the market for over 5 years and has passed all tests provided the initial adhesion to the print is satisfactory. The introduction of eco solvent inks has caused some adhesion concerns with laminates, but with the introduction of Digi Clear Primer it has resolved this issue.

Digi Clear Primer is a waterbased clear to improve adhesion of UV Digi Clear and Graffiti Proof when required on eco solvent inks. It is fast drying and can be overcoated within 2 hours. It cannot be used as a finishing coat.

Graffiti Proof is a two part water based clear that will provide protection against graffiti paints. It offers the same properties as UV Digi Clear but has superior chemical resistance to allow the removal of graffiti with Viponds Graffiti Remover. It is ideal for banner vinyl but may cause problems on self adhesive vinyl. The coating may cause the edges of the vinyl to curl after a few months.

Graffiti Remover is a solvent based cleaner to aid the removal of graffiti from Viponds Graffiti Proof.

Digi Lac is a low odour solvent based clear that is suitable if the inks or substrates used in the digital process are water sensitive. This is a new product and replaces our solvent based digi-clear. Fast drying and available in a gloss and matt finish. Now available in aerosol cans. It can be used on most solvent prints and is the ideal product for quickly changing gloss level.
