Cold Weather Tiling Information from LATICRETE![]() Technical - Cold Weather Tiling and Grouting LATICRETE products are well known to deliver the productivity and performance required by the contractor as we move into the colder months. After all, LATICRETE was developed in a part of the world that gets extremely cold. Conventional Portland cement tile setting beds, thin-set adhesives, grouts and cement plasters have retarded setting times in these cooler temperatures or can be permanently damaged when subject to below freezing temperatures immediately after installation. Selecting the correct installation products or controlling the installation environment is the key to successful tiling in these cooler or cold conditions. There is a simple rule to follow when the temperature is low during installation: The 8°C Rule - for every 8°C below 21°C, Portland cement and epoxy based materials take twice as long to cure.
