Brisbane Domestic Terminal Walkway by Makmax AustraliaMakmax Australia is proud to have been a part of the recent redevelopment of The Brisbane Domestic Terminal Walkway, an up-to-date raised walkway built at the Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal. The airport terminal's walkway revamp is part of a larger project commissioned by the Brisbane Airport Corporation to upgrade all pedestrian and vehicular traffic passing through the airport.
The new terminal walkway included Makmax Australia's use of 4000sqm of TiO2 (Titanium dioxide) coated PVC fabric to construct a tensioned membrane roof structure to provide weather protection for pedestrians passing through between the terminal building and the modern multi-level train and car park platforms.
Lightweight and known for its self-cleaning properties which minimises dirt build up over time, the tensile roof fabric structure by Makmax Australia provided a spacious, open-air, and light walkway for travelers and commuters.
The concept of the roof membrane structure called for a design that complies with fire regulations which require trouble-free ventilation of smoke and toxic fumes. At the same time, it should be able to minimise rainwater access during Brisbane's recurring summer downpours. Makmax Australia was awarded a Special Commendation (Tension Structures greater than 500sqm) at the STA Australian Textile Industry Awards 2012 for their work on the Brisbane Domestic Terminal Walkway.
