Privacy Screens: Maintenance Tips and Tricks from QAQ Screens![]() Privacy Screens from QAQ are generally low maintenance. The occasional upkeep depends on your material of choice. Screens using Aluminium, Corten Steel, Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, MDF, Coloured MDF and Acrylic are all products that you can install outdoors without the worry of physical deterioration. Interior Designers can also specify other materials that require minimal maintenance, such as Weathertex and Aluminium Composite Material for privacy screens. Weathertex Maintenance Privacy Screens made with Weathertex are composed of 97% timber and 3% natural wax. The material does not contain glues, resins, or silica. If you wish to paint your Weathertex, you must remember to clean the raw screen free of dirt or debris, before applying a coat of quality exterior primer and allow it to dry. You may then apply two coats of an exterior grade 100% acrylic or solventbased paint systems for optimum adhesion. If you are painting your privacy screen as a DIY project, we highly suggest following the panel manufacturer's instructions. Oiling a Weathertex privacy screen also requires the material to be free of grime, and then applying a minimum of two coats of Cabot's Aquadeck or other equivalent products.
