Prevent Thermal Bridging with Foamglas® Cellular Glass Insulation

Prevent Thermal Bridging with Foamglas Cellular Glass Insulation

Wrapping a building with a layer of cellular glass insulation is a smart and practical way to prevent thermal bridging. Extremely light plus it has a rigid and closed cellular matrix that effectively blocks most common sources of heat transfer. It is easy to install and is perfect beneath almost any kind of exterior cladding or side frame.

Foamglas® is the most trusted cellular glass insulation developed by Pittsburgh Corning, world renowned innovators of glass systems. It is manufactured using 60% recycled molten glass, carbon, and sealed glass cells via cutting edge technology, resulting in a porous glass foam that is impermeable to moisture, air, vapour, and toxic chemicals. It boasts high and long-term R-values, effectively prevents thermal bridging, ensures a consistent indoor temperature, and promotes lower energy costs.

To bring the cellular glass product from Belgium to the Australian market, Bellis forged a strong partnership with Pittsburgh Corning to become the official and exclusive supplier of Foamglas®, which has since received positive feedback from Bellis' top clients. Cellular glass insulation products from Bellis includes Foamglas® Wall Board and Foamglas® Perinsul S.

Foamglas® Wall Board

As the name suggests, Foamglas® Wall Board is ideal for use in an exterior wall or a cavity wall construction. Strong enough to withstand significant weight, it is also used for spaces like bases of parking decks. If installed correctly, it prevents thermal bridging within walls and accounts for considerable energy savings. It also inhibits water seepage and moisture buildup, sustaining its insulation values even after years of use.

Wall Board is also the top choice for insulating green roofs because of its dimensionally stable and vapour tight properties. The cellular glass insulation shields the building from water ingress, moisture from the plant life, and also blocks the penetration of pests or chemicals.

Foamglas® Perinsul S

Among the Foamglas® cellular glass insulation range, Perinsul S has the highest compressive strength that can withhold masonry walls without the need for support elements. It can stand at 2.9N/mm² with a load-bearing capacity of 1N/mm². The cellular glass insulation can be combined with common building masonry in a single layer and can create an insulated joint between vertical wall insulation and horizontal floor or roof insulation.

Foamglas® Cellular Glass Insulation is built to stand strong across the life of structures. Visit www.bellis.com.au for more information.
