This landmark apartment development, designed by prominent Canberra firm Colin Stewart Architects, is located in Canberra's inner-south suburb of Deakin. It sits on a site formerly occupied by The Embassy Motel. The complex consists of four buildings from five to seven storey's, within a secure, landscaped setting that preserves the leafy character of the suburb.

The location, some 800m from the Prime Minister's Lodge and two minutes from Parliament House, is adjacent to the existing local village centre, which includes cafés, shops, a licensed club, professional offices and a fitness centre. The apartments have views to Red Hill, Black Mountain Tower, and the Brindabellas.

Quality products were used throughout the building. Professional Tiling Services were commissioned to do the tiling work which was carried out using Davco waterproofing, adhesive and grout products.

Waterproofing Membrane

With Canberra's cooler climate, K10 Rapid Class III waterproofing membrane was used for waterproofing of the bathrooms and showers. K10 Rapid is a fast drying, highly flexible, water-based polyurethane waterproofing membrane. It is ideal for cooler climates due to its excellent curing time.

Tile Adhesive

Large format tiles were used in the hallways and living areas of the complex, which required a strong tile adhesive. SE-7 tile adhesive is ideal for large tiles due to its non horizontal slump. In addition to its good strength and flexibility, it features our Dust Less Technology which means less mess, less dust and faster clean up. Econofix flexible tile adhesive was specifically used throughout the kitchens and bathrooms due to its excellent coverage.

Grout

Sanitized® Colorgrout was used for the grouting of the project. Sanitized® Colorgrout was the perfect choice because it could be used with the variety of tiles selected for the project and its wide range of colours.

Davco's products are not obvious to those using newly constructed buildings. However, those who are involved in the construction process know the value of using tried and tested waterproofing membranes, tile adhesives, and grouts. They give greater peace of mind on important parts of the structures.
