HomeGuard termite management Melbourne at Exopest Control

Registered Termite Management System incorporating a chemically integrated physical barrier shown not to leach. Suitable for residential and commercial construction.

A Proactive Physical Barrier System incorporating a registered termiticide (bifenthrin) fully impregnated into a plastic polymer sheet which is installed into the structure during construction, suitable for all states. The system comprises several specifically designed forms for varying applications, including;

  • 0.2mm High Impact vapour barrier.
  • 0.5mm damp-proof course (embossed surface for reduced brick slippage).
  • Rigid plastic collars for protection of service penetrations.

HomeGuard will effectively stop termites entering the building via concealed access, and has the ability to kill and repel attacking termites on contact.

The active ingredient in HomeGuard is highly insoluble in water and does not leach, meaning the termite management system is non-toxic and safe to the environment, homeowner and installer.

Homeguard has a zero-waste production process, with any off-cuts being recycled and incorporated into future production. Because it doubles as an approved moisture membrane and DPC/Flashing material, there is also a saving on building materials.

Homeguard is designed to last the life of the building, will not rust, crack or delaminate, and is UV protected. No additional chemical treatments are required after installation, therefore reducing any chemical loading of the structure.

Issues of Concern/Red Lights?
The registered chemical insectide bifenthrin is used in this product. This chemical shows only mild toxicity in humans except in high oral doses but is potentially highly toxic in aquatic environments if it was to leach.

Extensive tests have been conducted to ensure the chemical does not leach from the Homeguard polymer matrix sheet, and the product has received a Building Products & Systems Appraisal from CSIRO and a registration from the Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). A laboratory evaluation by the International Pest Managament Institute (2005) indicated that "bifenthrin is unlikely to migrate from the plastic sheet into an aqueous phase when used in a pre-construction termite management system."
