Style Focus: Colour trend sees tapware take centre stage

Bold statement pieces will be one of the biggest upcoming trends for tapware in 2016, allowing proud individualists to express their unique sense of style.

One of the strongest emerging trends taking hold at this year's ISH fair in Frankfurt, the world's biggest bathroomware showcase, was the industrial aesthetic combined with an infusion of colour. Increasingly, the bathroom space will not only be about functionality and technological innovations, but personal imagination as well.

Marylou Paino, trend forecaster and interior designer at CM Design, explains "A prime example of capturing this signature style and personal energy is Dorf's new Industrie Basin Mixer."

"For a while we've seen only chrome or stainless steel to achieve that minimalist aesthetic. This is still popular, but we're now seeing a noticeable shift towards careful and considered use of colours - black, white and even red."

The industrial theme has seen stylists, budding interior designers and creative, style-conscious homeowners alike confidently integrating statement tapware into their upcoming bathroom projects.

"This trend brings a bold focal point to the bathroom. The industrial look, in particular, has experienced a kind of rebirth in terms of interior design. It's all about beautiful contradictory pieces, design history and providence all working together rather than following a single shape," said Marylou.
