Self Extinguishing Bonethane Polymer Splashback by ISPS InnovationsAre you looking to update your kitchen or perhaps make a new one? When planning your kitchen renovation, consider the cooktop you want, so you can plan for your splashback. At ISPS Innovations they have a range of splashback alternatives to suit your application, for kitchens, Bonethane higher heat polymer, bathrooms & feature walls IPA Acrylic polymer, toughened glass, composite panels & tiles all used as a splashback & wall panel for residential and commercial application. Gas cooktops generally require toughened glass, tiles or composite panels, which can get costly & or pose limits. Did you know that you can still damage tiles or toughened glass from a gas cooktop? Contact the ISPS office where they will show you examples: 08 8381 8880 ( national delivery for all splashbacks and wall panels).
Some companies recommend acrylic behind gas hobs applying stainless steel plate glued to PMMA acrylic face. Note, that metal is a conductor of heat, the process has no airflow & will not protect the polymer acrylic, eventually causing acrylic to fail or catch on fire. Most benchtop spaces are around 600 mm deep, if you consider a deeper benchtop space you will have a little more freedom with your splashback choice safely using Bonethane higher heat polymer as an alternative for your kitchen splashback.
Where induction or ceramic cooktops are applied, consider getting a self-extinguishing Bonethane polymer splashback, a higher heat polymer splashback available in matte & gloss, used as a decorative wall panel that looks like glass, designed to protect your wall, available custom coloured or in your chosen graphic design for your printed polymer panel. Suitable for indoors and outdoors, easy to clean.
If it's bathrooms you are renovating use IPA Acrylic coloured and printed wall panels with GRIPTEK barrier backing, easy to clean, no mould, easy to install yourself and 100% waterproofed. IPA Acrylic - the right choice.
ISPS have formulated GRIPTEK barrier backing preventing premature weathering and apply it to all their custom-coloured and printed polymer splashbacks and wall panels, eliminating the need to coat the wall a neutral colour (except for corner overlaps & butt joining), and prepping the backs of sheets before installation saving you time and money.
Not all polymer acrylic splashbacks are designed the same. Some you find in local hardware chains or custom acrylic printed splashbacks from online shops and none of them compare to the quality of ISPS splashbacks and wall panels. Acrylic splashbacks can catch fire or the paint applied to the rear of other brands of acrylic, is prone to silicone bleeding & colour delamination due to thermal expansion and contraction. Some acrylic splashbacks require time-consuming preparation like sanding the backs of sheets and coating the wall with a neutral colour. There have been many negative online reviews stating this, hence the GRIPTEK solution applied to all Australian-made polymer panels produced by ISPS Innovations. How to Install Polymer Acrylic Splashbacks:
Bonethane painted coloured splashbacks, look like glass and are repairable. If the face of Bonethane or IPA Acrylic sheets is scratched, it can be repaired, as the colour is applied to the rear of the sheet peering through a high gloss face. ( refer to this link (69) Acrylic Splashback Installation Bonethane Polymer - No longer at Bunnings, Best DIY Splashback - YouTube 3.51 minutes into clip, repair scratch on Bonethane sheet.) Did you know Bonethane is future-proofed, not only is Bonethane recyclable, it is sustainable & can be recoloured years on and refitted. Composite panels, like face-painted aluminium splashbacks, also offered by ISPS Innovations, are designed for high heat application, but run the risk of the painted face being scratched, and discoloured from heat, which is non-repairable unless removed off the wall and resprayed, toughened glass can also suffer the same issues.
You can DIY your polymer Bonethane kitchen splashback, just make sure to follow Australian standards. You also need to check the manuals of cooking appliances to see how much clearance is needed between them for your glass or polymer splashback choice. Bonethane can go behind freestanding cooktops that have a metal plate fitted to the rear of the cooktop, not the polymer splashback. The freestanding cooktop must rest off the wall with sufficient clearance for airflow refer to the appliance manual for directions. Both Bonethane and IPA Acrylic coloured and printed polymer splashbacks come with GRIPTEK barrier backing available in any custom colour or digital print. 100% waterproofed suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, and outdoors for residential and commercial applications Griptek barrier backing prevents neutral cure silicone bleeding, colour fading and delaminating.
