School Canopy for Flexible Outdoor Learning by MakMax Australia Templeton Primary School in Melbourne's eastern suburbs has expanded its outdoor learning and activity spaces with a 650-square-metre MakMax TensoCola canopy. The new covered outdoor learning area provides weather protection for assemblies, sport and everyday school activities, while integrating with the existing campus. A key design requirement was maintaining clear sightlines from the flagpoles and stage during assemblies. MakMax customised the standard TensoCola layout to reduce the number of columns while preserving structural integrity and load distribution. The refined arrangement creates a more open space for students and staff, supporting flexible use beyond scheduled events. The canopy uses Mehler FR700N architectural-grade PVC, selected for its weather resistance, light transmission and long-term performance. Its hot-dip galvanised steel frame provides additional protection against corrosion in a busy school environment. Installation was completed during the holidays to minimise disruption, allowing students to return to a comfortable new outdoor facility. View more about this project at makmax.com.au.
