Shou Sugi Ban Architectural Cladding from Hazelwood & Hill![]() Shou Suga Ban by Hurford's Available from Hazelwood & Hill Shou Sugi Ban is an architectural cladding which combines the ancient Japanese craft of fire treatment with a precision milled, architectural cladding profile that is locally sourced. By applying the fire treatment, it adds an additional barrier to protect against decay and insect attack. The timber used is a special range of Australian hardwood timber and BAL-29 Australian Hardwoods. Hurford's use a modernised Shou Sugi Ban technique, the process evenly chars the face of the board before it is cooled and finished to Hurford's 'Straight Charred' effect. All Shou Sugi Ban refined architectural cladding is pre-oiled with Feast Watson Timber and Deck Stain, Black Japan.
