Polymer Pipe Safety System Video from Aquatechnik Australia
Lead Free, Full Flow, Leak Proof
The aquatechnik hot and cold water safety® system includes full flow fittings and is designed for potable hot and cold water, compressed air, HVAC, industrial, marine and agricultural use, with sizes from DN16 to DN63. The system has been created for easy assembly using affordable patented tooling.
Lead Free
Utilising PPSU fittings (polyphenylsulfone), a polymer that is commonly used in avionics and medical procedures due to its incredible strength, and multi-calor pipes, the safety system is the next evolution in piping systems. It's the only system in the world that completely avoids brass and metal ions coming into direct contact with water, so lead contamination in the water supply cannot be attributed to the safety system.
Multi-calor pipes are a cross-linked polyethylene internal and external layer, with an aluminium layer in between. The layers are bonded using an adhesive compound designed to withstand the pipe enlargement during joint assembly.
Full Flow
Unlike most polymer piping systems, the safety system is processed by expanding the pipe head and inserting a fitting that is the same nominal bore size as the pipe. This ensures that flow rates are optimised, the system is much quieter, since water turbulence caused by small bore fittings inside pipes is completely avoided. Over time, calcification inside piping systems that utilise metallic fittings can also occur, which can further reduce flow rates. Again, this does not occur with the safety system as the PPSU fittings do not react with water in the way that metallic fittings do.
Leak Proof
A simple one step expansion of the pipe head using the patented aquatechnik tool is all that is needed to ensure a fast, safe, leak proof joint every time*.
The safety system is very forgiving in that the fittings can be turned 360 degrees even once the connection is made, which allows the installer to adjust the fitting as desired.
If you make an error in measurement, you can easily remove the fitting, cut the pipe, re-process the pipe expansion and re-use the fitting! There is absolutely no wastage.
"This system is designed to provide a highly effective, safe fluid distribution system that can be easily and quickly assembled on site," says Rod Luker, General Manager aquatechnik Australia. "Since launching in Australia, the system has been used on a range of projects ranging from luxury homes in Sydney to industrial facilities."
