History

  • The Dulux Colour Awards were established in 1986.
  • The Dulux Colour Awards are designed to foster, acknowledge and showcase the creative use of colour in architecture and interior design.

  • Abbie Galvin
    • Principal, Bligh Voller Nield.
    • University of WA graduate, Honours and the Design Medal.
    • RAIA Travel Grant for Design Excellence.
    • Experience extends across public and educational buildings, commercial work environments, urban spaces and preparation of detailed commercial property analysis.
    • Design director for new Deutsche Bank HQ, Sydney (RAIA Interior Architecture Award 2006) and the Upper and Lower entrance precincts for Taronga Zoo.
    • Design and project director for Clemenger BBDO (RAIA Interior Architecture Award, 2001), Munich Reinsurance (RAIA Interior Architecture Commendation, 2005).
    • Sir Robert Webster Building at UNSW (RAIA Lloyd Rees Award, 2000).
  • Tim O'Sullivan
    • Principal, Multiplicity.
    • Curtin University graduate.
    • Experience focuses on creating spaces that are intrinsically beautiful, highly useable, readily enjoyable and environmentally friendly.
    • 2006 RAIA juror for VIC chapter architecture awards for residential / new.
    • 2005 RAIA VIC chapter architecture awards for residential / renovations and alterations.
    • 2005 IDEA Awards winner - overall award.
    • 2005 IDEA Awards winner - residential.
    • 2005 Interior Design Awards - winner of four categories.
    • Celebrated for converting a rural Victorian church into a residence.
    • Currently working on Brunswick warehouse home/office renovation.
  • Special Guest - International Judge
    • Dulux will soon announce details regarding the appointment of a highly-regarded international interior designer.

  • Andrea Lucena-Orr
    • Colour Communications Manager, Dulux Australia.
    • Member International Colour Marketing Group.
    • Andrea's role encompasses trends and colour forecasting for Dulux and comprises several visits each year to Europe and other international fashion capitals to assess and monitor the industry.
  • Simon Joll
    • Colour Projects and Online Colour Manager, Dulux Australia.
    • Simon's role includes input with point-of-sale material, trend forecasting, styling, design-related project management as well as independent decoration and design consultation.
    • His recent position as Online Colour Manager heralds an exciting new time in terms of technology's impact on the colour industry.
  • Julie Johnston
    • Colour Development and Logistics Manager, Dulux Australia.
    • Julie purchases, develops creative and manages the manufacturing of all Dulux colour material in both retail and trade markets.
    • Julie continually sources new manufacturing and printing methods from around the globe and ensures trend and colour concepts are represented in Dulux's vision.
    • Julie and her team are responsible for developing Dulux's creative colour names.

2007 Dulux Colour Awards Submission Process
All entrants must submit:

  • Rationale detailing what colour means to them and their submission...
    • Completed entry form available via www.dulux.com.au.
    • Project description.
    • Colour board including colour swatches.
    • Digital imagery - specifications provided on website.

Only submissions using Dulux paints will be judged

Submission Deadline
31 January 2007

2007 Dulux Colour Awards Prizes

  • Grand Prix winner:
    • $2,000 cash prize.
    • $17,000 of prizes and experiences including -
      • Return business class airfare.
      • Airport transfers and five-star accommodation.
      • International destination for vocational experience.
  • Professional Category winners:
    • $1,500 per category.
    • Trophy/certificate.
  • Student Specifier Category winners:
    • $1,000 per student.
    • Trophy/certificate.

All finalist projects to be displayed at Dulux Colour Awards exhibition (following Awards ceremony) and to be exhibited at designEX. As part of Dulux's sponsorship of IDA's Colour in Commercial Interior Design and Colour in Residential Interior Design Awards, Dulux Colour Award entries will be automatically entered into the IDA Awards free of charge.
