Concrete x-ray and scanning from ScanMan

A common term used in the construction industry for Ground Penetrating Radar is Concrete X-ray, but in this, there is no real use of X-ray. To be more precise Concrete Scanning or as we call it, Ground Penetrating Radar, is a very well recognized as well as a safe technique to inspect the internal composition of some of the natural matter like earth, gravel and rocks and also artificial man-made elements like asphalt, brick and concrete.

Concrete X-ray is a technical term used typically in the construction industry. It is possible to exactly locate almost anything under the ground with the help of Ground Penetrating Radar without causing any harm. This technology has the ability to see through a lot of solid materials. On the other hand radiation is needed in Concrete X-ray and it may not be able to look into the ground without a film which has to be placed as a source on the opposite side of the material. It is only possible to look at structures and supported slabs where both sides are accessible through Concrete X-ray.

Ground-penetrating radar or GPR is a geophysical technique in which radar pulses are used to image the subsurface. There is use of electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band of the radio spectrum; the reflected signals from subsurface structures are sensed by it. It is possible to use GPR in a variety of matter like soil, rock, ice as well as pavements. The technique helps in finding out cracks, voids, objects and the changes which take place in the materials.

There are many uses of Concrete X-ray. It can be used to detect problems in sewers, post tension cables, metallic and non-metallic pipes, conduit, support in concrete and a lot of other underground objects. Concrete X-ray is also used to examine the depth as well as the structure of the various layers of strata. One of the most common uses of concrete X-ray is to scan sections of topography before excavating the area. The advantages outweigh the cost which is incurred in the process.
