Aspects that should be considered when planning out your child's bedroom include the flooring, wall coverings, storage and bed, with lighting another crucial element that is often overlooked.

When considering other features around the room, flooring should be a soft, impact absorbing material such as carpet or a rug; for the walls, choose a wash-and-wear paint variety that makes cleaning spills and marks easy; and think long term when buying beds as gimmicky ones are fun for a year or two but will be outgrown quickly.

Decorating your kid's bedroom is a great way to give them a place they can call their own while acting as a safe haven where fun and creativity can flow.
