European Oak Flooring from Lagler Australia

We understand the stresses which timber flooring installers must face something as simple as ambient moisture can cause a litany of problems which snowball into disaster for a tradesperson.

Peace of mind comes with knowing that the floor you've installed will undergo minimal movement regardless of the fixing method. We reckon engineered flooring is the optimal solution.

Before we get too technical, let's cut straight to the biggest advantage of our engineered European Oak flooring; the look. This is not budget timber. It's a truly chic and timeless look. It's a robust hardwood with an elegant appearance which actually improves with age. The rich, characteristic grain and vein feature is reminiscent of the grand floors found in castles and the palaces of Europe in yesteryear. Yet, it will compliment both contemporary and traditional architecture. For the homeowner, it has the Wow Factor. They even have light and heavy smoked Oak for that chocolate-brown tone, without any need for staining.

For the installer, Oxford Oak is one of the most stable engineered timber floors available in Australia. The 14mm has eight layers of cross sectioned hardwood birch, with a 4mm wear layer, while the 20mm has ten layers of cross sectioned hardwood birch veneer with a 6mm wear layer. And yes, they are wide boards. Engineered flooring in general dispenses with the majority of instability problems caused by moisture uptake* which can befall a 13mm overlay or solid floor.

Remember, with a 13mm overlay you have a "sand-able" surface of little more than 5mm or less depending on the milling of the tongue. The 14mm Engineered (with nice 140mm width!) has 4mm of solid timber, so it's all the timber you need. The 20mm with 6mm solid surface is end matched so it can be laid as solid flooring over joists or batons.

Oxford Oak engineered flooring should be considered in place of select grade 13mm overlay or 19mm solid flooring. With prices starting at around $57 per sqm, guaranteed high stability, and with minimal flat sanding required, this represents excellent long term value. It's only available in Victoria at Lagler Australia. Check out our displays at Knoxfield and Tullamarine.

*refers to atmospheric moisture. Moisture in concrete slabs is still a consideration and must be dealt with, although the negative effects are minimised with engineered boards. Moisture testing is always advised.
