Custom Superdeck Loading Platform for AbiGroup from Preston Hire

Preston Hire (QLD) were able to provide a custom designed Superdeck Loading Platform to AbiGroup earlier this year, for a job at the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

AbiGroup required an extended Superdeck to help make allowances for the awnings above the windows on the higher floors of the hospital.

The Superdeck at its usual size made it difficult to load things onto the platform from the outside, as the awnings would get right in the way, and removing the awnings would have been a costly and difficult process.

AbiGroup presented Preston (QLD) with the problem, and Preston's specialists were able to suggest that providing a loading platform that extended a further 1.5 metres would be a simple solution.

By working with engineers to draft up a new design, then manufacturing and certifying a new loading platform to extend a further 1.5 metres, Preston was able to resolve the problem, and AbiGroup was able to continue work on the hospital without awning interference.

AbiGroup commenced construction on the $890 project in 2009, with the new hospital located adjacent to the existing Mater Hospital on Stanley Street. It's due for completion in 2014.

It's not the first time Preston Group has chosen to adapt their hired equipment to meet their clients' needs, and the company is currently in the process of designing a loading platform with a triple load capacity for a different job.
