Portable Machines for Concrete Scanning from ScanMan

In today's high-tech world, the evaluation of concrete structures is becoming more and more essential. Government contractors and other general contractors want that the site should be first scanned for underground utilities and impurities before starting the work of drilling and coring. They want to save their time and money and make sure that the maintenance costs are minimized. In addition to this, plumbers need to know the exact location of water leakage within the ground and for that they require specialized and portable equipment which is capable of scanning the concrete.

With the advent of new technology and electronic devices it has become easier to scan concrete for rock formation and other risky objects. These new machines have reduced the cost of scanning and they provide quick and detailed scan results. Modern machines provide digital results that are very accurate and reliable. These machines are very handy and require less effort.

Some of the newer portable devices include cable detection machines and air vacuum excavation methods. An accurate and reliable scan ensures that there will be fewer re-design requests from the client and fewer delays and mistakes. These modern machines saves time of construction and have therefore become a necessity in the construction industry.

One of the most innovative products of concrete scanning is the CSM-R630 Concrete Scanning Machine. It works by generating a magnetic field and scans concrete for the presence of any material by measuring changes in the magnetic field. An instrument meter is present which indicates the magnitude of this change. This meter gives the diameter and depth of the bar which can be easily interpreted. The instrument is basically used to observe ferromagnetic materials under concrete and also for reinforcing bars.

The Hilti PS200 Ferroscan is another portable device to detect rebar under the ground. It is especially designed to give accurate results and is used to scan concrete and examine hazardous objects under concrete. It gives perfect information about the location and depth of the objects. The machine can also tell the rebar diameter. Based on 3D technology, it gives three-dimensional results and shows 3D image pointing out the size of rebar. Concrete scanning equipment can also be used for radio frequency detection in order to locate pipes and cable in high voltage areas. For this purpose, specialized equipment is designed to detect active as well as passive frequencies. Underground water pipes can be effectively detected using this methodology.

These portable devices are used to scan large areas quickly. They are simple to use and therefore even a single person can operate them without any difficulty. Most of these machines are capable of recording digital data which can be sent to a computer system for further analysis and assessment.
