DesignFile 002: THE POD PRIVACY CHAIR - SOLITARY STYLE

Benjamin Hubert's Pod privacy chair is perfect for breakout areas in offices or residential spaces. The chair's ergonomics allow the user to work comfortably whilst feeling relaxed and separated from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding environment. The perimeter of the chair surrounds the occupant's head making it akin to a little room-in-room solution.

London-based Hubert specialises in industrial design across furniture and lighting sectors and works with international manufacturers in Europe and Asia. His studio is interested in material driven design, meaning the starting point for ideas often comes from a material or production technique.

The shell of this chair is the largest form ever produced utilising pressed PET felt technology. This felt produces a distinctive aesthetic while also offering sound dampening properties to increase the sensation of privacy.

Hubert is extremely interested in making sustainability an integrated part of each project, whether by creating long lasting products or using recycled elements. When it comes to the Pod privacy chair, the entire design is environmentally friendly, from its material which is made of recycled plastic bottles to the fact that the Pod is stackable and therefore easy to store and to transport.
