2015 Australian Interior Design Awards shortlist announced
Stunning restaurants, beautiful cafes and everything in between led the way in this year's Australian Interior Design Awards, with record entries in the Hospitality Design category. Residential Decoration was another busy area for design practices, with more entries than ever before. Shortlisted projects for this prestigious design competition have just been announced, recognising the extraordinary talents of Australia's design practitioners.
Now in its twelfth year, the Australian Interior Design Awards are co-presented by the Design Institute of Australia, Artichoke and Diversified Communications Australia. The Awards celebrate the outstanding design skills of established practices and emerging talents across the breadth of Australia's design industry. In 2015, there were over 400 entries across the program's fourteen categories.
"Once again, the jury was impressed by the creative talent and visionary designs proposed by Australian designers," says event manager Jacinta Reedy. "The pool of entries demonstrated that design firms in every corner of Australia are delivering inventive solutions across the full spectrum of project scales and typologies."

From 2015, a new category will recognise the business, social, human resource, environmental and/or cultural outcomes of good design. The inaugural Award for Interior Design Impact will consider key organisational measures - such as profit, sales, client and staff retention - which have been positively impacted by the application of great interior design.
The jury that selected the 2015 shortlist brought together some of Australia's most experienced design practitioners: Hamish Guthrie, Hecker Guthrie (Vic); Sarah-Jane Pyke, Arent&Pyke (NSW); Dan Cox, Carr Design (Vic); Genevieve Lilley, Genevieve Lilley Architects (Tas), Geraldine Maher, Jackson Architecture (Vic); Hamilton Wilson, Wilson Architects (Qld); Brenton Smith, Bates Smart (NSW); and Robyn Lindsey, Geyer (Vic). The jury is supported by John Gertsakis, Infoactiv Group (Vic), as Sustainability Advisor and the Design Institute of Australia jury convenor, Joanne Cys, Associate Professor in Interior Architecture, University of SA.
The award categories are:
- Premier Award for Australian Interior Design
