Steel framing may have been around since the 1960s in Australia but not everyone has yet seen the advantages of using this for constructing homes and other buildings. Some have trouble with working out logistics like wiring or plumbing, but NASH explains how simple it is. Plumbing in steel framing systems is done through pre-punched service holes. which are in the wall studs.

All steel framing systems have these holes, and both water and gas piping can pass through them to reach outlet locations. To avoid unwanted frame contact, and to offer pipework support, these service holes are installed with plastic grommets first.

The National Association of Steel-Framed Housing offers guides and support on how to correctly install plumbing. It should be noted, though, that copper piping should be isolated from steel frames.
