Global warming: Dry-Treat sealing solution

Dry-Treat, the nano-tech leader in the manufacture of sealers for porous building materials, will team up with leading thermodynamics scientist, Dr Eric Hu (Deakin University, Australia) to develop a sealer for reducing global warming.

A recent article by Dr Hu in the The International Journal of Global Energy prompted Dry-Treat founder, Stuart Anderson to approach Dr Hu about developing an energy reducing sealer based on Dr Hu's findings. In the journal article, Dr Hu outlines an alternative to the traditional wisdom of planting more trees to soak up more carbon. Dr Hu proposes changing the colour of as many sun-facing surfaces as possible to white, which will reflect solar energy back out of the earth's atmosphere into space.

Dr Hu's investigations into energy reflection show that the energy absorbed by dark surfaces such as roads and roofs could be just as much a factor as energy trapped by our carbon emissions. He proposes a system of energy credits, similar to carbon credits, where individuals and companies are rewarded for changing dark, energy absorbent surfaces in white reflective surfaces.

Dry-Treat has already developed and tested sealers which will block-colour porous surfaces. "Our technology compliments this idea beautifully", says Dry-Treat MD Stuart Anderson. "Our unique nano-engineered impregnating sealers provide other crucial elements to motivate people to whiten their floor and roof surfaces. We are able to seal the surface while maintaining its slip resistance - a must for floors and roads, as well as providing protection against water, salt and freeze-thaw damage."
