The Dry-Treat sealing solution for global warming

Dry-Treat, the nano-tech leader in the manufacture of impregnating sealers for porous building materials, is teaming up with leading thermodynamics scientist, Dr Eric Hu (Deakin University, Australia), to develop a sealer for reducing global warming.

A recent article by Dr Hu in the The International Journal of Global Energy prompted Dry-Treat founder, Stuart Anderson to approach him about developing an energy reducing sealer based on Dr Hu's findings. In the journal article, Dr Hu outlines an alternative to the traditional wisdom of planting more trees to soak up more carbon. Dr Hu proposes changing the colour of as many sun-facing surfaces as possible to white, which will reflect solar energy back out of the earth's atmosphere into space.

Dr Hu's investigations into energy reflection show that the energy absorbed by dark surfaces such as roads and roofs may contribute just as much to global warming as energy trapped by our carbon emissions. He proposes a system of energy credits, similar to carbon credits, where individuals and companies are rewarded for changing dark, energy absorbent surfaces into white reflective surfaces.

Dry-Treat has already developed a complimentary sealing technology. "Our unique Colour Treat sealer provides premium protection from water, staining, salt attack and freeze-thaw damage, as well as altering the colour of the surface," commented Dry-Treat MD, Stuart Anderson. "Until now Colour Treat was intended as a remedial solution, to fix discoloured surfaces, but it may be a commercially viable way to begin putting Dr Hu's environmental solution into practice."
