Shenzhen Water Park ETFE Dome by Makmax AustraliaOnce a small fishing village on China's coastline, Shenzhen is known today for a number of amazing theme parks. One of these famous attractions is the Shenzhen Water Park, an indoor theme park that is home to a visually stunning ETFE Dome.
The complex yet simple ETFE dome structure was created with the MakMax TensoSky ETFE System. Envisioned by the architect to embody the joy of free-spirited water play, the dome's modern appearance symbolizes a gigantic water droplet.
The TensoSky ETFE System allows natural light to penetrate the pale blue tinted translucent structure, making plant nourishment below possible. Creating a dramatic effect at night, the surrounding trench sparkles with shining reflections caused by the LED lights tinting the huge droplet.
The ETFE dome used for the Shenzhen Water Park was designed with triple-layer blue ETFE (ethylene tetra-fluoroethylene) cushions. Durable, strong, and both energy and cost-efficient, ETFE is regarded as the new building material for the modern generation.
