Luxembourg Pavilion Dubai 2020 by Makmax AustraliaMakmax Australia showed the tensile membrane architecture's limitless possibilities with the Luxembourg Pavilion Dubai 2020. Inspired by the Mobius ribbon, which is a single-surface infinite loop, the building symbolises the Luxembourgish culture of dynamism, openness, and circular economy. The Luxembourg pavilion at the Dubai World Expo 2020 really stood out with its modern architectural design. To achieve the twisted single-surface shape with a flood of natural light, a highly-translucent facade material was needed. Chukoh PTFE in two different grades was used to create the inner and outer membrane of the facade. Makmax Australia's Brisbane facility fabricated the 4,700sqm PTFE membrane panels, which were then shipped to Dubai. Of the 4,700sqm fabric, 2,400sqm were Skytop FGT-800 that offers 12% Visible Light Transmittance designed for the outer shell. Meanwhile, the remaining 2,300sqm inner shell was a thinner PTFE- FGT-250A that has an 18% Visible Light Transmittance.
