The Project

Rust stains on light coloured limestone are highly visible, and up to now, have required major restoration work to remove. Usually this involves removing the stain with an acid, and then refinishing the surface to fix the damage from the acid.

Cliff Ellwood, a Stone Mason and Dry-Treat Accredited Applicator (Tile and Stone Doctor, Queensland, Australia) had the opportunity to try HANAFINN Skavenja™ on a badly stained white honed limestone surface. The rust stains were created by metal outdoor furniture left on the limestone surface for extended periods.

Cliff initially attempted to clean the stains with a bleach solution without success. Before resorting to harsh acid cleaners Cliff decided to try Skavenja™ - the results speak for itself. Cliff was able to totally remove the rust stains without any damage to the limestone.

HOW TO USE SKAVENJA™

Steps for removing stains with Skavenja™:

1. Remove dust and dirt from the area
2. Wet down the surface with water and remove any excess
3. Apply Skavenja™ to the surface. Skavenja™ can be applied undiluted to remove heavy efflorescence or diluted up to 5 parts with water for light efflorescence and grout haze removal.
4. Leave on the surface for 5-10 minutes. Use a brush or cleaning machine to lightly scrub the surface.
5. Rinse or thoroughly mop the surface with clean water. Repeat the process as required.

It is always recommended that you test product on a small area before use.
