Standing at the peaceful community of Caddens in Claremont Meadows is the Penrith Baptist Church. The comfortable and tranquil independent church has plenty of rooms including a 250-seat auditorium.

The region's winter average temperature of 5°C occasionally falls down below zero. The parish turned to Devex Systems to install hydronic underfloor heating to deal with these winter extremities.

During the construction of the Penrith Baptist Church, the water-based heating system was installed in the topping slab. To speed up warming time and minimise energy consumption, a 100mm thick thermal insulation was used between the structural and topping concrete with the entire system controlled by thermostat.

The Pastor of the Penrith Baptist Church is extremely happy with the results, as the hydronic installation has helped to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere for the church and its parishioners. Following the installment, Devex Systems visited the church for a routine post installation check up on a cold winter morning. The thermostats were regulated to 31°C on the floor substrate. This is an ideal target temperature for the floor as it insures a comfortable ambient temperature for a room of the size of the auditorium.
