Colan Australia manufactures an extensive range of composite reinforcement textiles. This wide and specialised range is used in the construction of engineered laminates for all types of transport vehicles - air, sea and land. Projects range from mine sweepers, multi purpose naval vessels through to sailboards, surfboards, powerboats and yachts. They feature in civil, defence and pleasure aircraft, and motor transport.Further applications include components for the automotive and electronic industries, dry freight and refrigerated semi-trailers and shipping containers, wind turbines, building facade and structural panels for high-rise construction, and pipes and storage tanks for both agricultural and general industrial use.

Colan has the capability to produce custom designed reinforcing fabrics from E Glass, S Glass, Carbon Fibre and Para Aramid yarns. Colan Australia manufactures these under approvals from ISO9001: 2000 and as well manufactures to a range of domestic and international standards, including AS/NZS/ISO9001: 2000, BS, ASTM and US MILSPEC. Colan has Lloyds Register of Shipping approvals for major woven roving styles. As well, Colan Australia's range of multi axial fabrics has approval from Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

1. Multi-axial Fabrics (Non Crimp).
These styles include Uni-directional, Double Bias, Biaxial, Triaxial, and Quadraxial. These fabrics can be made in custom width from 100 mm to 3300 mm (Biaxial) widths in weight ranges from 260 g/m2 to 1600 g/m2 with or without chopped mat or tissue attached. These products manufactured in Australia are certified with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) approval.

These fabrics comprise of one or more layers of fibres, chopped strands and fabrics with varying orientation that are stitched together with a lightweight thread to make up a fabric with the required properties for the application. Multi axial fabric can also be made using hybrid combinations.

Unidirectional: 0 or 90
Biaxial: 0 & 90
Double Bias: +/-45
Triaxial: 0 +/-45
Quadraxial: 0 -/+ 45 & 90

Chopped fibreglass strands or chopped strand mat can be added to some of the above multi-axial fabrics. Other fabrics can be manufactured using up to seven layers that provide lamination benefits to the final customer.

2. Premium Performance Woven Fabrics.
These high performance composite fabrics are manufactured in various weave patterns principally plain, twill, unidirectional, crowsfoot and satin weaves. The weight range is comprehensive being from 25 g/m2 to 690 g/m2 and in widths from 640mm to 2000 mm. Custom design of fabrics including hybrids containing different fibres is also available.

3. Woven Roving & Woven Roving Tapes.
An industry standard in quality and performance Colan manufactured woven roving is available from 265 g/m2 to 1000 g/m2 and widths from 100mm to 3300mm. The 630 g/m2 and 830 g/m2 are certified to Lloyds Register of Shipping approval.
