Winning windows wanted by the Australian Window Association!

Calling out to the fenestration industry - the Australian Window Association Design Awards are on again. From Wednesday, 18 April 2007 the AWA will accept submissions for the 2007 AWA Design Awards.

The inaugural AWA Design Awards in 2006 made waves within the window industry, with over 50 stunning entries received in total. The winners were announced in September 2006 at the AWA national Conference in Alice Springs, and the AWA ensured each award recipient enjoyed extensive support and exposure.

Ian Frame, AWA Executive Director, said, "We knew the success of the 2006 Awards hinged on the formation of a completely independent judging panel. Last year's panel included key industry spokespeople, with the Building Products Innovation Council, Design Institute of Australia and the HIA all represented. As a rule, AWA staff are not involved in the judging process whatsoever."

The only awards of their kind, the AWA Design Awards recognise the efforts of window manufacturers and suppliers that contribute to the industry by excelling in the production and promotion of windows and doors through exciting innovation.

One of the core aims of the AWA is to advance the awareness of windows as a major architectural component in building design. The Awards worked towards this aim by highlighting the companies that had made outstanding achievements in the following areas:

  1. Best Use of Windows and Doors (commercial and one residential).
  2. Most Innovative Component.
  3. Most Innovative Window System.
  4. Showroom of the Year (large and small showroom categories).

Ian comments, "The high quality of all the submissions last year proved we struck a cord by introducing these Awards to the fenestration industry. We hope the success of last year's program will inspire and encourage more AWA members to enter this year."
