Things have been very busy in the AWA offices. With only a couple of weeks now to the Fenestration Australia conference preparations are in full swing (there is still time to register ) and the Brisbane Standards and Regulations Course registrations rolled in, so many in fact that the course booked out 10 days before it is due to run. For those who missed out on the Brisbane Course make sure you get in early next time.

There are Level 1 Window Courses coming up. Perth is 15-16 October, Sydney 29-30 October and a newly scheduled one in Brisbane 12-13 November. The Level 1 Course provides great information and opportunities to find out much more about the industry. It is suitable for everyone working in the industry and expands on the design, fabrication and installation of windows, the principles associated with technology, water penetration, day lighting, energy and acoustics, properties and characteristics of materials, relevant Australian Standards and the link with the Building Code of Australia.

Doric was a finalist in the NSW Training Awards held a couple of weeks ago. While they were not the winners of the award just being a finalist is recognition of the support they are giving their employees. One of the areas that they have been training their people in is Lean Processing. This type of training would be of great benefit to AWA members so Applied Training Solutions are running a 4 hour workshop on Friday 25 October in Smithfield NSW. It is an introduction to Lean Processing and offers not only a great learning experience but also chance to see what benefits can be had by introducing this type of training into your business. The AFRC Simulator Operator Course is running in Sydney 26-28 November. It provides training in how simulations are conducted and is the first step towards becoming an AFRC Simulator. Details are on the webpage.

Please remember too that we have the Online Window Induction Course. It receives great feedback and provides an excellent basis of information for those new to the industry although there have been quite a few people who have been in the industry for some time who have done the course. They have told me that they were surprised that they learned from it too.
