Operable walls allow a limited transfer of sound from the external office into the smaller individual space.

Our operable walls also assist in the reduction of energy consumption and heat loss. These include improved insulation (the reduction of conduction losses) and reduced air leakage (convective losses). Different combinations of top/bottom seals, as well as their various board/panel constructions and face finishes are crucial in the wall's ability to prevent heat from moving through solid parts of the wall such as panels and rails. Furthermore, different jamb configurations assist in losing heat from air movement near and in the space between the panel and its frame. Operable walls therefore can sustainably reduce the energy consumption required to heat or cool the relevant space.

Careful consideration should be given to choosing face finishes that assist in absorbing or reflecting heat and sound as required. These different surface finishes can improve the NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient)/reverberation of the space through sound absorption. Customers can choose between glass, or a combination of multiple solid materials including timber veneers, high-pressure laminates, 2-pack polyurethane, colour back glass and fabrics face finishes. The choice depends on the look, feel, acoustic and energy environment you are trying to create in the various spaces.
