Since its founding in 1971, the Tanya Pearson Academy (TPA) has established itself as Australia's leading ballet academy, with a distinguished international reputation. Founded by the highly respected Tanya Pearson OAM- awarded the Order of Australia Medal for her outstanding contributions to the arts- the St Leonards, NSW-based academy continues her legacy of excellence in dance education.

The academy comprises four dedicated dance studios, with the largest spanning 340 square metres. To maximise flexibility, the brief called for a solution involving acoustic walls Sydney that would allow this expansive studio to be divided into two acoustically independent spaces—enabling performances in one area to run concurrently with training in the other.

Operable acoustic walls offered the ideal response, providing adaptability for a variety of configurations: from expansive event settings to more intimate, collaborative environments. The system ensures acoustic separation and privacy while supporting the dynamic use of the space.

Belmadar, in collaboration with Ink Architects, selected Bildspec to deliver this outcome. A 12-metre-wide by 4-metre-high Series 100 Rw49 centre-stacking operable wall was installed, finished in Aegean Glacier vinyl. The result is a wall that integrates seamlessly with the light, airy palette of the studio, preserving both the clarity of design intent and the performance needs of the academy.
