Mascot Engineering has expanded its Technodrain linear drainage range with the introduction of the Evo 100 Polyamide Class D grate and channel system, offering architects, engineers and contractors a high-performance alternative to traditional metal drainage grates.

Designed for demanding commercial, public and industrial environments, the new Polyamide grate combines impressive load capacity with low weight, corrosion resistance and reduced maintenance requirements.

A New Material Choice for Class D Drainage

Polyamide is a high-performance engineered thermoplastic valued for its mechanical strength, durability and resistance to wear.

The new Technodrain Polyamide grate has been load tested to 250kN under EN124 C250, equivalent to the loading requirements of AS3996:2019 Class D. This provides the strength required for demanding applications while avoiding many of the inherent disadvantages associated with conventional metallic grates.

Unlike steel-based products, Polyamide will not rust. It also provides excellent resistance to salt, chlorine and a range of chemicals and cleaning agents, making the system particularly suited to environments where corrosion can significantly reduce the service life and appearance of conventional drainage products.

Designed for Harsh Environments

The combination of strength and corrosion resistance makes Technodrain Polyamide particularly well suited to applications including:

-Coastal developments and beachfront promenades
-Marinas and waterfront environments
-Swimming pools and aquatic facilities
-Food and beverage processing facilities
-Commercial developments
-Chemical and industrial facilities
-Public spaces exposed to harsh environmental conditions

These are environments where stainless steel has traditionally been considered because of its resistance to corrosion. Technodrain Polyamide provides designers with an alternative material solution capable of delivering high performance without the cost and maintenance considerations associated with stainless steel.

High Strength, Lower Weight

One of the major advantages of Polyamide is its high strength-to-weight ratio.

The engineered polymer provides mechanical strength and load capacity comparable with much heavier traditional materials while remaining considerably lighter and easier to handle. This can simplify transportation, handling and installation on site.

The grate also incorporates an anti-slip surface for improved pedestrian safety in wet environments, together with UV and temperature stability for long-term external applications.

For additional security, the grate incorporates a boltdown facility using corrosion-resistant stainless steel bolts.

Paired with the Technodrain Evo 100 Channel

The Polyamide Class D grate is paired with Technodrain's Evo 100 channel, creating a complete modular linear drainage system.

The 100mm internal-width channel is manufactured from HDPE and features an integrated edge rail. Channels are supplied in modular, pre-assembled lengths with pre-formed outlet locations in the base and sides, simplifying installation and connection to the drainage system.

Technodrain channel bodies are manufactured from 100% recycled HDPE, with UV protection incorporated into the material to improve durability under prolonged environmental exposure.

The smooth, rounded internal channel profile also assists hydraulic performance and helps reduce the accumulation of debris.

Performance Where It Matters

For specifiers, drainage selection in aggressive environments has traditionally involved balancing load performance, corrosion resistance, installation requirements, aesthetics and cost.

The introduction of the Technodrain Polyamide Class D system provides another option.

Its combination of 250kN load testing, corrosion and chemical resistance, low weight, anti-slip performance and a recycled HDPE channel makes it particularly relevant where conventional galvanised or metallic drainage products may be susceptible to deterioration.

For projects where stainless steel performance has traditionally been sought because of environmental exposure, Polyamide can provide a practical and cost-effective alternative.

The Technodrain Evo 100 Polyamide Class D grate and channel system is available exclusively in Australia from Mascot Engineering.
