IKEA Using WE-EF Technology for Canberra Store

IKEA Using WE-EF
Key to the success of the exterior lighting scheme was the lens flexibility of the WE-EF product range.

The well-known brand of IKEA has received a stylish profiling at the global company's retail site at Majura Park, in the eastern suburbs of Canberra.

The warehouse-like store of the Scandinavian furniture and homewares chain welcomed more than 12,000 visitors at its opening in November 2015, for which it extended its open hours to accommodate large crowds in its first few days.

The job of ensuring the visibility of the site and the brand fell to engineering firm Rudds Consulting Engineers and WE-EF sales partner in ACT Integral Lighting. Key to the success of the exterior lighting scheme was the lens flexibility of the WE-EF product range.

Integral Lighting's Alex Skaines said; "finding a 5000 lm to 6000 lm wall-washing product within the budget was very difficult. We explored various options, both WE-EF and the competition. We were originally using the FLC141 projectors with a wallwash lens but settled on the VFL530 street and area luminaire with reversed [A60] lenses to achieve a nice wallwash effect."

The outstanding result was achieved through close consultation with the client, as their budget did not allow for the use of an adjustable bracket to aim the original FLC141 at the wall.

Alex said the VFL530 "worked perfectly" in this instance, with the fittings mounted over the top of the IKEA lettering with the intention of wall washing.
