XPS or Solid Shower Trays for Reliable Bathroom Bases by Marmox Australia

XPS or Solid Shower Trays for Reliable Bathroom Bases by Marmox Australia.

Shower bases are often selected on size and drain position alone, but tray construction can influence installation, floor support and long-term performance. Marmox Australia offers two pre-graded options within its Shower Tray System: lightweight XPS Shower Trays and self-supporting Solid Stone Shower Trays.

Marmox XPS Shower Trays use a high-density extruded polystyrene core with a fibreglass-reinforced cementitious coating. Lightweight, waterproof and tile-ready, they are suited to residential bathrooms where fast installation, easy handling and reduced screeding are priorities. The trays can be trimmed or extended on site and are pre-graded to centre or offset waste outlets.

For projects requiring added rigidity, Marmox Stone Shower Trays are manufactured from polymer-modified concrete. They provide the same pre-graded drainage geometry and waterproof performance as the XPS range, with solid construction for enhanced load distribution. Unlike XPS trays, they are self-supporting and can be installed directly onto floor joists with appropriate spacing and support.

Both systems are tile-ready, compatible with Australian waterproofing systems and designed to eliminate on-site screeding and curing. The choice comes down to the application: XPS for lightweight, efficient installation, and Solid Stone for self-supporting performance and greater load distribution.
